Introduction

The Royal Academy of Arts Outreach Programme offers one-day creative life drawing workshops to primary and secondary schools students and their teachers across the UK.
The programme supports the powerful role that drawing can play in the development of young people’s creativity. Since its inception in 1989, more than 45,000 pupils in schools have participated in these artist-led workshops which are an integral part of the work of the Royal Academy’s Education Department.
Drawing from the life model has played a key role in the history of the Royal Academy of Arts since its foundation in 1768. Outreach takes this historic subject and infuses it with a renewed significance that is relevant to the educational needs of young people today.

This site includes information for schools and for students. We have also created an On-Line exhibition of drawings from the workshops. Teachers and students can subscibe to email lists for future information from the Outreach Programme and about education events for RA exhibitions.
