Outcomes
Outreach acts as both a stimulus and a resource, providing a whole school day for participants to immerse themselves in a prolonged and challenging drawing experience. The workshops stretch more confident students as well as those with little or no experience of drawing.
The programme aims to support and complement regular coursework, and by the end of the day participants will have a portfolio of exploratory drawings that can be used as rich source material for new projects. Some of the workshop exercises allow more time for developing individual drawings than others, and participants are usually surprised by the quality of the results from both short and longer poses. However, it is important to emphasise that the workshop is not about producing ‘finished’ works of art for examinations or assessments
