1. Why is it called a workshop?
Because it is not a class in the traditional sense, the
students are not simply recipients of a teacher's knowledge - they are
active participants in an event that is flexible in content and unpredictable
in outcome.
The tutors don't go into schools with a set of pre-existing answers that
students have to work towards, they set up drawing exercises designed
to stretch the students' notion of what drawing encompasses and how creative
processes operate.
The use of interpretation, instinct and speculation is encouraged as a
means to individual discovery that can then be used to inform others.
Taking part means first hand experience and personal insight.
